Where are you from? Please introduce your country?

I grew up in Wakayama, Japan, until the age of 14 and then moved to Kyoto where I attended high school and university, so let me briefly introduce Kyoto in particular. Kyoto is a traditional city having a large number of traditional temples and shrines. Some of them are registered as a World Heritage Site. Higashi-Yama is particularly the most traditional community in Kyoto. Walk along the narrow cobblestone streets there and you feel like you are walking in back time to another era. Anyway there are still fascinating places worth going and seeing with your own eyes, so when you visit Japan I would be more than happy to guide you to any place!

What is your original major?

I got a bachelor’s degree in Cultural Studies. What made me decide to choose this major derives from the first experience I went overseas back in high school. Honestly speaking, I used to regard foreigner as Aliens and I had a strong bias against them at the time. However that first overseas experience broke out of my shell and let me realize that we are the same human beings living under the same roof. Thus, such a precious experience opened my heart to different people, culture, history, and language, which motivated me to study this major

What is your motivation for studying in IB?

I believe IBMBA represents the ideal program for developing my professional, personal, and comprehensive development in international business by increasing and harmonizing several knowledge such as ethics, communication, problem solving, and professionalism with a global vision.  Furthermore, this program has a great mixture of both bright Taiwanese students and international students from around the globe and a supportive learning environment as well as unique exchange programs. These beneficial features motivate me to study in IBMBA

What are you impressed in NSYSU&Taiwan?

Having been to Taiwan twice for travelling before and been living here for a year, I became emotionally attached to Taiwan in several aspects. What I am impressed the most with Taiwan is people’s kind, open-minded, gentle, and friendly personalities. Since Taiwan is not a hierarchical society like Japan, there seem to have no age gap between people that allows me to talk with people whose ages are older than mine comfortably without using formal words, which is different from Japan.  NSYSU provides us great environment as this school is surrounded by mountains, oceans, and a variety of animals that we might not be able to see in other universities.

More importantly, I really appreciate Taiwanese people and their action from the bottom of my heart for helping and supporting Japan when the 2011 catastrophic disasters happened. This was the most decisive motivation for me to study here, appreciate them, and maintain friendly relations between two nations.

Being a IB student, could you offer advantages of IB?

Students can take advantage of precious opportunities mentioned in question 3 in IBMBA to broaden further global mind-set and become a global businessman through academic studies and interaction with other bright students from around the globe, which encourage students to enhance traits such as cultural intelligence, interpersonal skill, teamwork skill, and global adaptation skill.

Event Summary

2013Welcome Party for New Students

Of 2013 IBMBA, we have 28 students in total, including 14 Taiwanese students and 14 international students, who come from 13 different countries and possess diverse backgrounds. Furthermore, an interesting fact is that more and more international students come here with not only fluent English but also fluent Chinese proficiency, which adds multiculturality to their profession backgrounds.

The orientation started with introducing our new administration team, including: Program Director, Prof. Yin-Chin Lin from Institution of Communication Management, who welcomed all new students joining IBMBA family; Vice Director, Prof. Christina Wang from Institution of Human Resource Management, who addressed that she will dedicate herself to increasing internship for students; a mentor for 1st year IB students, Prof. Cheng, who will help students with their living and academic difficulties.

In addition to elaborating the overview of the IBMBA program and Kaohsiung City by our 2nd year intl’ student, Paulius, one of our staff, Shuping Huang, also introduced ACT Program to new IB students. The orientation shortened the distance between students and ended up with laughing through ice-breaking game.

Koahsiung, Aug. 28 (CNA) Senior journalists from the Central News Agency will work with a local university to help expand the global views of students enrolled in the school's international Master of Business Administration program.

Under an agreement between CNA and NSYSU's College of Management, four CNA journalists who have worked abroad for a long time will give classes on a variety of subjects in the university's international MBA program, starting in September when the new semester begins.

This is an all-English program aimed at cultivating business management leaders with global views and all-round knowledge. Half of the school's MBA students are from foreign countries and are part of a unique program called ACT that takes them to Austria, Canada and Taiwan on an international study tour. The Silk Road, The Thinking Path I: Departure for Thinking

I’d worked in Shenzhen for one year and ever traveled in different cities in China, such as Guangzhou and Shanghai. However, the trip of the Silk Road really broadened my view toward China; that is, there are diverse cultures and civil quality in Chinese vast mainland.

We arrived at the Lanzhou Zongchuan Airport in the evening, and couldn’t wait to visit the local night market- Zengning Night Market.  Zengning Night Market was really bustling and crowded. Here you can buy various Halal foods and meals. I bought a dessert made with a raw egg, some milk, sweet fermented rice and cereals. It was so delicious that I ignored the H1N1 crisis to eat it all. After that, I also ate some lamb kebabs which were my favorite food. The taste of the kebabs in Lanzhou differs from that in Taiwan. It was really chewy and juicy, but too salty to me.  After strolling at the night market, we walked along the Huanghe River to enjoy the night scenes. Lanzhou is the only city in China passed through by the Huanghe River. The color of the river is so brown, it reminds me of Mekong River in Thailand.

I want to introduce a popular touring site: Lanzhou waterwheel. Basically, waterwheels are not unusual as we know; however, there are some very unique goat skin rafts here.  I didn’t try it and had no idea about its price for taking a boat ride, maybe any of you can try it and share the information with me!

The next day we arrived at Lanzhou University School of Management (LUSM) to meet other learning members. I took Professor H. Jason Huang’ s course “International Organization Behavior ” last semester, and he recommended me to join this trip planned by the school. I felt much honored to have this opportunity. Professor Huang was the president of the Student Affairs office of NSYSU; he is a well-experienced expert in international communication and now still in charge of the related affairs for the university. This trip was from July 15th  to July 23rd, Professor Huang was crazy busy in those days, he even arranged a visit to a college of finance and management in Dalian from July 9th to July 13rd  before the trip.

On the opening ceremony for the trip, the Vice Dean of LUSM omitted Professor Huang while introducing every faculty representative from participated universities. I thought it was careless and unacceptable, so I sent a text message to remind the ceremony undertaker of LUSM immediately.  Finally there was a happy ending, the Vice Dean introduced Professor Huang grandly and described him as an amazing master in the management field. The EMBA students of LUSM experienced the course “Happiness Management” given by Professor Huang at that night (to be continued).
